Every business has its ups and downs and not all businesses will see its progress right from the start. When you enter into a business you cannot expect that it can take off right away, right after you launch it. This is also true in the movie industry and when you are into filmmaking, do not expect that it will ripen right away.

If you are into this business you cannot expect that you will be the winner right away. This only happens in fairy tales. In the real world you have to continuously refine and adjust, to be the real winner in the end.

You may have a very good movie idea, good concept, and the project very awesome. This independent move project of your may be the ideal concept, you think, but despite its being very revolutionary you are not seeing people see this or try this. This is probably because the project is new and never been tested, and despite having no competitor nobody is buying it.

Your new independent filmmaking venture may be new in the business and without yet the expected competitors. But you are not experiencing people to try it or see it, is this because you are new and haven’t got the people’s trust? Is it because people have not heard or read about your company?

Just like any business you’re promoting your new venture. You are also marketing and selling to people who are new in the business. To these people you are a new concept that is still alien to them, having not encountered like yours before. In this process you will still have to build trust, and this can mean a very long process that you have to undergo.

Many people have these challenges may falter or quite even before they are halfway through the challenge. Will this happen to you? You may still be the winner, after all. Anyway, there is a cool idea where you can show and offer your concept to people. This is Crowd funding. There are sites in the internet where you can explore and find out what this is all about.

Crowd finding will allow you to lay out your movie ideas to a crowd of people who are online. These kinds of people may be those who are the enthusiastic kind about sponsoring a movie. But do not source out your entire budget through this method. Limit your crowd funding campaign to a few thousand dollars. This is because you are only trying to sell your movie concept and source out your initial funding. Source out your entire budget through this method will bound to fail.

This is probably a more saleable sales pitch for your prospective investors. This is because you are selling the concept and not the whole project. Because you have now gathered a few thousand dollars you can now finish your independent movie project. You are going to satisfy your sponsors with the finished project.

All these can mean that your new filmmaking project and concept is the ideal thing and you can source out your initial audience through crowd funding. You can also make the initial steps in doing the distribution and other things which you can have control of.

Although there are no business guarantees to think of, like many business, you are proving that your concept is cool and awesome and you can source out an audience. This may make prospective movie investors to buy now than later.

Presently, we notice that indie films and movies are on the rise. There are many opportunities for aspiring producers and movie makers wherein they can showcase and flaunt their skills and creativity. It has been highly regarded by the audience and the mass in general; it has been greatly accepted by the movie industry with regards to the filmmaking business. Famous movie critics have commended a lot of directors who makes indie films. Indeed, there are a lot of independent movies that became a hit to the people and have proven its worth in all parts of the world. There are definitely a lot of factors to consider in making a good film. Yes, talent, skills and creativity are vital aspects. And one important factor to consider also is the technology. You should be able to have the essential resources and gadgets to materialize your imagination.

In order to capture the perfect scenes that you want to create, you should first and foremost have your own video recorder, or your camera. Experts have suggested that you get hold of the latest technology and at the same time, considering gadgets that are available on the market and affordable in your end. Mostly HD cameras with XLR inputs are highly recommended. There are definitely a number of camera models that are very enticing when it comes to its features, design, and of course, its brand. Sometimes it’s quite difficult to decide on a certain brand, but then, when you have already trusted one brand, then it is easier for you to figure out your own choice. You can browse the internet for added information and knowledge of a certain product that you are considering. You can also compare it to its competitors so that you can choose the one that is most suitable for your project.

In filmmaking, it is vital that you use tools that are easy to manipulate enabling you to handle it very well and that you are very much familiar about. If you have already decided as to the kind of camera to use, you can share the idea to your friends who have the knowledge regarding such matter so that they can help you whether they affirm it or they have other suggestions. One good possibility is that maybe one of your friends already has that kind of camera and that you can borrow it to finish your project. With this, you will be able to save a fortune and at the same time, you can now start making your project. Since you are into indie filmmaking, budget is really something that you have to manage. Carefully budget everything, and make sure that you’ve exhausted all means to come up with a much cheaper cost by cutting off some unnecessary expenses. Since a big expense is placed on the technology that you use, always consider that choosing the appropriate and affordable camera is very crucial. Having the lack of financial resources is really not a hindrance in finishing your movie; you just make sure that you have everything properly accounted for.

Film production nowadays has come a long way primarily because of the incorporation high technology, particularly the use of computers. Because of this, what used to be impossible has become common practice by film producers and directors. Of course, it is not just the computers that allow producers to come up with good films. Film production software is also necessary to come up with good quality videos. In fact, almost all films these days heavily employ such software before their final versions are released. There are several concerns that you must consider first about such software before you could start working with it.

First of all, you have to determine what kind of video production you are going to deal with. You should already know that filmmaking involves several genres. Each genre would naturally involve specific kinds of equipment and devices. In relation to this, there may also be some software that is appropriate only for a certain genre or for a particular film. Another thing that you have to consider is determining which part of the process you are going to use the video production software for. Is it for manipulating the video or audio, or is it for adding some animation? Is it for editing or for the story-board? There are different film production software materials for each of the said tasks. You just have to learn about them first.

Once you have determined what kind of film production software you would need, the next thing that you are supposed to do is to find this on the internet. You would rarely find such items being sold in shops. However, if you search for these on the internet, you would certainly be surprised at how many these software products are. The best ones are definitely not for free and you do have to pay for these before you could download the full version. The good news is that you are allowed to test the products for a given trial period. This should give you the opportunity to find out how useful can such software be to your filmmaking endeavors.

You would never be able to appreciate the advantages of any film production software unless you actually get to learn how to use it. This is the reason why you should take tutorials regarding the use of such software. Actually, you do not have to enroll in any film school just to learn about how these are utilized. There are also tutorials that you can read or watch online. If you want a more effective yet expensive learning process, you may also order DVD tutorials on the software that you have acquired.

Filmmaking is something that you should not consider as a job but a fun and creative activity. It is only by doing so that you would remain interested in it. However, even if it is fun, it does have its serious moments though. One serious part is when you are learning to manipulate film production software. Once you have leaned this well, everything else that follows would be easy and enjoyable.

Independent filmmaking as a business is just like all other businesses – it is dead without its patrons and especially its investors. The fact that you can actually get by with a lot of patience and a lot of waiting around for the right break is there but it can be painstakingly cruel to most independent filmmakers.

Let us take a closer look at how your independent movie project could be put alongside a start-up company. Many independent filmmakers have good and even great ideas when it comes to film creations but the problem lies on how it gets its success after its launch. Even if the concept is great, unique and original – as almost all independent films are, most people won’t go for something that is not heard of, known or that is not patronized by someone they know. This is true with prospective buyers or audience as well as prospective movie investors. This is how most independent filmmakers often end their quest for finding success in filmmaking.

Independent filmmakers need to continually refine their concept and make it into one that is simpler to understand and embrace by the audience and movie investors and at the same time, they need to find resources to help them through. As an independent filmmaker, you are the one approaching prospective investors who are basically new to filmmaking and from their buying standpoint, you (including your movie and movie business) are a new concept, something that they have never tried before. You are bound to find yourself having meetings spent educating and building trust which guarantees no success at most times.

Of course it isn’t always bad news for independent filmmakers. There is good news and it comes in the form of “Crowdfunding”. There are sites that allow you to explore crowdfunding, the likes of www.IndieGoGo.com. Here you will be able to toss in your movie idea to crowds online and most of them you will find to be more than happy to sponsor a movie project or two. Of course a word of caution to those interested with crowdfunding, limit your crowdfunding campaign. Remember that there are budgetary essentials aside from spending on crowdfunding – like your movie’s real budget. The beauty in crowdfunding though is that you will be able to test your movie concept and demonstrate to investors that you are able to grab interest in the marketplace.

Business still holds no definite guarantee more specifically when it comes to independent movie business. The aforementioned steps that you may be able to take however should give you a push for a start-up way to attract movie investors so utilize them wisely. You might be surprised when you find prospective movie investors giving you a try now and not having you wait longer for your break.

Filmmaking is such a seemingly glamorous and grandiose venture and these days, film schools produce thousands of graduates annually but did anyone outside the film industry ever notice of how minimal it is able to produce actual successful filmmaker? Or maybe this has remained a hush-hush in the film industry. Whether this issue be admitted or not, it has become quite evident that the film industry is suffering from the lack of better produce from film schools. Now this is one issue that may be worth probing.

So, why can’t film schools produce good filmmakers – ones who are sure to come up with great ideas that sell big? Perhaps it is best that we take a closer look at how American Public Education is and how it has evolved. There has been this concept of providing for and upholding public education since the early 1800s and although this has given birth to equal opportunity to more people, this has also paved the way to education that is less qualitative. Let us not forget that when it comes to filmmaking, creativity, personal initiative and entrepreneurship should be tapped and nurtured from each individual. This is a filmmaker’s lifeline.

What film schools produce these days is what you may call a herd of good workers. These are non-creative people who hardly think out of the box. The credit to them is the fact that they hardly fail to “please the boss”, they are able to do what is required of them but hardly thinks of what pleases them. Now, isn’t this a classic example of a produce without a creative juice to squeeze out of? The film industry can’t have these.

Another error is perhaps on the fact that film schools give emphasis on the wrong things – things that are unnecessary in the actual film making practice. Instead of nurturing the free spirit and enthusiasm within the student, film schools tend to change them into mindless and lifeless followers. They become quiet and plodding instead of vibrant and outspoken idea-makers. They get taught to obey and never argue about any concept that seems incongruent with their observation or idea. Of course this is good – for a factory worker but not a film maker.

Film schools wrongfully injects in the students the concept that working in the film industry means you get a glamorous and high-paying job in Hollywood and still get them home by 5 in the afternoon. The truth to the matter is: if you intend to succeed as a true filmmaker, there can be no “this time only” for work and you need to start small, work your way through time, coming up with original and creative ideas until that well-deserved break to success.

Every screenwriter knows that a good screenplay makes a successful film and for most part, it is the screenplay opening that truly helps in invoking audience interest and putting them in sync with the film’s flow until the very end. There are screenwriters who even go to the extent of putting a screenplay opening that is literally jam-packed with actions the likes of explosions, a murder or extremely exhausting chase scenes.

Although this may very well fit some films, when it comes to screenplay opening basics, you can be sure to need only a few things to keep in mind. This ultimately calls for and involves your audience. A good screenplay opening is one that appeals to your audience’s senses especially the visual part and their emotions. Your opening no matter the degree of action put into it should be able to hold your audience’s attention long enough that they no longer notice that they are already in the middle of the film and then they get delivered into the ending part.

Because it is the opening, the audience should be able to generate the questions “who are these characters?” and “what is going on?” within themselves and it should be with just enough curiosity to keep them from withdrawing their attention from your film. It is unnecessary that they find the answers to these questions right then and there but rather simply arouse them to seek answers for these from the incoming scenes. There may even be times when the answers to these questions are found at the end of the film or story.

When it comes to catching the audience’s attention, emotional appeal plays a big part. Your screenplay opening should be one that is able to generate emotions from your audience whether it is in the form of sympathy or empathy. In the first part of the emotional arousal, one may think that it is sheer curiosity but delving on it one would discover that he or she is already feeling for the character in the screenplay. This is when emotional involvement comes in. A good screenplay opening is able to rouse within the audience emotions that make him or her feel like being one with the character and this should squeeze out all other consequential reactions and emotions throughout the film.

Screenwriters should be keen on these factors and make sure that they check their opening scene. Being able to internalize what they have written and being able to identify whether the senses and emotions were actually roused could help in determining their screenplay opening success. If attentions were actually grabbed while reading the screenplay, surely it will follow that the audience’s attention will have the same effect.

It is a fact that youngsters will always go for courses that can give them better paying jobs after college. For these objectives they look for the ideal schools that they think will give them the best education they can get. This kind of education will likewise get them the better jobs that pay high, after they finish these courses. Film making cab be one of these courses. It is a glamorous job and with great potential to be a well known personality and likewise rub elbows with celebrities.

If you are in New York you will try to find these film making schools. They can be the reputable schools that offer glamorous courses that can be high paying, in the end. But you will also expect that these schools will charge high tuitions. Everything in New York is expensive, and you cannot expect these schools to charge low. But if these schools are charging very high, can you be sure that they have the best facilities? The best instructors? You will never have the means to gauge how these schools will perform, until you see graduates ending up not getting the high paying jobs they desire.

Students wanting to enroll in New York Schools and colleges have to understand that education in New York is quite expensive. This also goes with the expensive style of living in New York, The Big Apple has on of the highest cost-of-living in the world, and you have to live with that. As surely you can also expect that cost of education in New York can also be very high. Not with standing if your course is film making. But if these film making schools charge incredibly high, are they really worth it?

If you can find the film making school in New York that really offers the best film making education, then it can be the right option for you. These film schools should have the best on film training, skills workshops and seminars that can be offered be a better film school. They should have the best professors and educators. Their facilities and equipment should be on the same level in quality with the film equipment of top notch film makers. All these will justify the high fees that they will charge.

These schools should see graduates having to top level film makers in film production outfits in the world. Having graduates who are the top notch film producers in the world will speak for the kind of education the schools offer. But this isn’t the case. Only a small percentage of these New York Films school graduates are those that are the renowned film makers in movie outfits worldwide, so it doesn’t speak well of these schools.

Courses that can get you high paying jobs, right after graduation – this can be come-ons of some colleges in your area. The need of getting high paying jobs is getting high these days, and many youngsters can always fall for these come-ons. Who would not like to b well paid with the jobs they can get after graduation. Only simple minded youngsters will not dream of getting good pays, such that most will go to schools with good courses that can pay them highly after graduation, as advertised.

Filmmaking is one course talked about in some colleges and film schools, with topics that their graduates usually end up getting good pays in the filmmaking industry, right after graduation. Glamorous sounding courses with expected jobs after finishing the course are quickly getting the rounds in some film schools and colleges. But are these film schools or colleges really turning out graduates that readily get glamorous and high paying jobs right away, or are they only for the profits they can get?

Questions of accreditation are also with these schools and even more amazing are the tuitions charged by these so called “renowned” film schools and colleges. They even charge higher than what most reputable universities charge for a legitimate degree, and this is even more a scandal thing. Students who have the capacity to pay and those qualified for a student loan can be their potential student and these are the people they will target in their advertising schemes. And the youth, dreaming of getting high paying jobs after graduation can always fall for these schemes.

The courses offered in these schools and colleges are not only limited to film production and filmmaking but also to other glamorous subjects such as fashion design, culinary arts, design and programming, and other lines. Although some graduates may be able to get the really high paying jobs (the lucky ones) but majority may be not in this lucky category. The basic lesson taught can be learned from schools with low fees and not those from “high tuition” colleges. It is a good thing if these schools will offer tuition refunds if graduates can not get a well paying job, but they are not.

Film making is not a hard thing to learn and this can be learned in a school not necessarily the “renowned” film schools that are advertised. In other film making methods this course can be taken without you spending a fortune. The basic sills and lessons can be taken and learned by a student with only a fair tuition fee as payment. The high pay will come if the graduate has the talent, skills and luck, but connections are also important.

If you have plans to shoot films in 3D, you have to keep in mind that it does not need to be very costly, in fact you can either do the shoot the fundamental way or try a different approach, something that would make the shooting of the movie cost effective. You don’t even have to purchase expensive equipment at the onset since it is quite achievable to shoot segments using the previous 3D techniques and technology. Although most of the commercial movies being show today utilized the more costly and advance film equipments which required huge financial investments, with a decent camera, you can do your own version of a home 3D film.

What you need is a camera, a computer, and a customized tripod mount. You would also need a 3D software, one that is uncomplicated and quick to use and many of them are available for download for free online. You would also need a cheap anaglyph lens or if you prefer to save more, you can create one on your own.

Keep in mind that 3D filmmaking works just like the human eyes, both left and right eye functioning to their optimum level. In shooting 3D, there should also be two separate footages, both left and right. The advantage of using anaglyph 3D in filming your home movies is that it is the only type of 3D film which can be readily accessed via the internet lately. So if one has a fairly strong internet connection and anaglyph 3D glasses, they can easily watch the 3D movies that you uploaded.

This is the simplest approach in shooting 3D’s.

Choose two reliable cameras that you will be using for the shooting. They do not have to be the more expensive ones, just as long as they are working and that they are bought within the last two years, they would do. However, if it is possible to use to cameras of the same make and model, the setting would be more ideal. This means that you get the same actual resolution and quality for both the left and right shots.

Make sure that each cameras or memory cards are properly tagged so that you would not encounter any difficultis in identifying card came from what camera. This would delay the entire filming and editing process.

As soon as you have the cameras, install them in such a way that their lines of sight are just like those of our eyes. Create your own rig, something that can carry both cameras at the same time. Make sure that their future moves are as synchronized as our eyes so they need to be tightly fixed when they are mounted. This enables you to shoot using two different cameras focused on the very same direction but are at a considerable fixed distance from each other. Yes, there are constants in the measurements of distances and a whole lot more if you want to come up with a more professional 3D film output. A stereographer is the expert in performing these measurement and if yo are shooting an amateur video, at best a distance of 20 inches between each lens is good enough.

Romantic comedy is on of the hottest themes in movies and I can easily name twenty romantic comedy movies that really burned the charts and are considered some of the most sellable movies of the century. Proof? I still have to see an action star who has not ventured into being a major cast in a good romantic comedy theme which means that there is really a huge market who gets crazy when that genre is now showing. And since hundreds of romantic comedies have been made dealing with hundreds of romantic comedy angles from the dead husband not really leaving the earth yet and hovering over his still alive wife to a girl who falls into a deep sleep every now and then who meets guy and the story revolves there, coming up with a new and untapped romantic comedy approach would be a very hard task. One reason why writing a good romantic comedy is quite a challenge is because you have to come up with so many reasons and twists that keeps them apart until the story nears its end.

if you are on the drawing board and you have thought of a runaway winner as a general plot on a romantic comedy script, here are some ways to keep them apart as long as you want them to be. You can start by putting the lovers apart and placing them in different countries, so far that it would take them days before they see each other the moment they decide to and create twists along the way. Or, you can make characters that are ages apart and that would mean a truckload of differences, a scenario where arguments are aplenty. And that leads us to another hot reason to keep the characters apart and that would be miscommunication focusing on how each of the main characters misconstrued each other.

Opposing values such as lovers who belong to warring political families or business opponents or a girl who fights for the environment and a guy who works for a huge oil firm – these thick walls would really spur a good number of twists which you can extend for a good thirty minutes or more. Nevertheless, since we have thought of these angles, it is not a far-fetched idea that others have also come across the same stories and that would mean that we have to go deeper and more absurd, if I may put it that way. You can use the more prevalent issues in life like for instance people who met and fell in love via social networking or relatives of a person who have been hospitalized, sharing the same room, and that is where they met. There is still a rich cornucopia of topics that have not been used and you just have to delve deeper. Work on people’s character and create situations for it.

Keep in mind that most people love romantic comedies mostly because they tingle the innermost feelings but they will love it more if they are able to relate to the stories.
