What are online film schools? How did these film schools come about? How do these learning institutions conduct classes online? What are the subjects that these film schools offer to its online students? What is waiting for graduates of these learning institutions? Or what are the career opportunities that graduates of Internet-based film schools could grab upon graduation? What production companies are open to hiring graduates of online-based film schools?

Internet-based film schools are learning institutions that hold classes on the various subjects involved in film-making through the Internet with the aid of a well-established, practical, and user-friendly distance-learning curriculum. Learning is long-distance but the quality remains the same. It can be done via regular correspondence depending on the mode of teaching that the professor of a particular film-making course has adopted. It can also be done via live online chatting with the aid of Skype or the ever-popular Yahoo Messenger.

These online film schools came about because traditional film schools wanted to reach professionals interested in learning film-making but is holed up in an 8-to-5 job therefore cannot attend a regular film academy and give this group the opportunity to learn film production at a pace that their respective schedules could allow and learn it at the comforts of their homes or offices.

Upon graduation career opportunities that await graduates of most online film schools include serving as film or associate producer, production manager, editor or assistant editor, director of photography, video camera operator or cameraman, production assistant, production designer, screenwriter, and location manager.

On the one hand, existing production and film companies that are open to hiring students and graduates of Internet-based film schools include Dreamworks, Pixar, Miramax Films, Skywalker Sound, Red Sky Films, and Saul Zaentz Film Center. If one however cannot find work in any of the mentioned film studios, one could always put up his own film production company.

Being graduates of online film schools believe that the possibilities are endless. Declare that you are the next George Lucas or Jerry Bruckheimer because you have talent and skill. It might just come true!
